Summer Camp for Female Middle School and High School Students: SHE in ECE 150 150 ieeeeduweek

IEEE EDS/CASS sponsored  “One-Day Summer Camp for Female High School Students” to join engineering especially in electrical engineering and computer engineering. SHE@IEEE is Soaring High-powered Excellence in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE): SHE in ECE. The participants will be middle school and high school students entering 7th to 12th grades in the IEEE North Jersey Section and the surrounding community.

Participants Did:

  • Learn about various IEEE activities.
  • Students will meet current and present female undergraduate and graduate students in ECE program.
  • The student will visit the ECE Research laboratories related to robotics, electronics, and communication/network research.
  • Female faculty members will address the students describing their career growth.
  • Students will be addressed by female industry leaders in ECE disciplines with ECE degrees.
  • Former female ECE students who are working in Industry will address
  • Students will discover the current trends and the future Electron Device technology by interacting with the female guest speakers.
  • ECE Program advisors will also present the academic activities and requirements.
  • Students will carry out a few hands-on activities that will include circuits boards and

ISEF – International Science and Engineering Fair

ISEF – International Science and Engineering Fair 150 150 ieeeeduweek

The IEEE Foundation currently has a volunteer opportunity in the Phoenix area. The opportunity is to serve as an onsite judge during the Regeneron Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF) held at the Phoenix Convention Center in mid-May. This is a global fair for high school level students who have won during science fairs at the local level. The IEEE Foundation awards the $10,000 IEEE Presidents’ Scholarship, a $600 award for 2nd place and $400 reward for 3rd place.

You will join a small team of judges (IEEE volunteers from the local area) and would need to be available from noon until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12. Then, all day Wednesday, May 13, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Access to preview student projects (without the students present) will be on Tuesday afternoon. The judging with student finalists present is all day, Wednesday. The awards ceremony takes place on Thursday evening, May 14.

SPECIAL NOTE:  Since volunteers will be meeting with students, all volunteers will be asked to complete a security background check.  There is no cost for the background check.

Registration is managed by Lynn Bowlby, [email protected]

May STEAM TEAMS Meeting: AI-Assisted Multimedia, PhET Sims, Photonics/Microcontroller Demos

May STEAM TEAMS Meeting: AI-Assisted Multimedia, PhET Sims, Photonics/Microcontroller Demos 150 150 ieeeeduweek

Join us for an evening of recognition, mentorship, hands-on learning, and community connection at the next IEEE Pikes Peak Section STEAM-TEAMS Monthly Meeting.  These meetings are in preparation for the 2026 Cool Science Carnival Day and Festival, Oct 3- Oct 18.  Ideally, because of the 8000+ visitors and 100 booths at UCCS last year, we want to have 36  S.T.A.R. (STEAM-TEAMS Ambassadors for outREACH) volunteers/mentors to donate one-hour of their valuable time during this 6-hour event.  This will allow time to have these volunteers visit the other booths with their families.  If anyone would like to contribute in their talent in other ways such as digital marketing, AI-assisted multi-content for short 2-5 minute tutorials on technical topics, social media marketing, fashion, digital and social media marketing, and other logistical support, please let Dr Santiago know at [email protected]

This month’s meeting is a special opportunity to bring together IEEE members, student members, families, guests, and past and present volunteers for an evening of learning, recognition, and community connection.

We will be recognizing our 2025 STEAM-TEAMS participants with challenge coins as a small token of appreciation for the time, service, and encouragement they have given to others through STEM and STEAM outreach.

We will also share a brief AI-Assisted Multimedia, PhET simulations,  Photonics/Microcontroller Demos as a fun introduction to these topics for the Sep-Cool Science Festival and Fair.

This gathering reflects something we deeply value in the IEEE Pikes Peak Section: building not only programs, but people. Through mentorship, hands-on learning, and community engagement, we continue working to make leadership more welcoming, more visible, and more meaningful for the next generation.

If you are interested in:

  • STEM and STEAM activities
  • mentoring students and young professionals
  • family-friendly engineering outreach
  • growing leadership through service and encouragement

we would be glad to have you join us.

Women in Engineering Week Argentina: Women Leading Innovation

Women in Engineering Week Argentina: Women Leading Innovation 150 150 ieeeeduweek

This event is part of Argentina’s Engineering Week and is organized by IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) to inspire, support, and retain women in STEM fields. The program includes a panel discussion featuring women engineers from industry and academia, a hands-on workshop, and a recognition ceremony honoring outstanding women engineers. A STEM outreach activity will also be conducted with local high school students to encourage early interest in engineering careers. The event aims to provide participants with relatable role models, practical experience, and networking opportunities. Through these activities, the initiative promotes inclusion, professional growth, and community building within engineering. The event is open to students, professionals, and the broader community interested in advancing diversity in STEM.
