IEEE’s Industry Content Platform Transforms Research into Real-World Engineering Impact

IEEE’s Industry Content Platform Transforms Research into Real-World Engineering Impact 150 150 ieeeeduweek

The IEEE Industry Content Platform (ICP) is a NEW and PILOTED initiative aimed at transforming how IEEE engages with the global community of practicing engineers. The ICP provides a home for IEEE content targeted at working engineers and the companies and governmental agencies for which they work. Original content relevant to design and development as well as white papers and illustrative videos can have an IEEE home in ICP.

In its most novel feature, the ICP leverages recent developments in agentic generative AI to pioneer an innovative model for academic-to-practitioner content transformation. The AI-transformed articles, based on original IEEE research content – are approved by human editors prior to publication and are tailored for industry.  They highlight key insights from the research, including practical applications, implementation steps, and related standards. In addition, the ICP can transform video content into applied engineering summaries and will also support the transformation of presentations and other content.

This session will explore the ICP’s strategy, technical underpinnings, and the vision for delivering industry-relevant content across IEEE platforms like Xplore and DiscoveryPoint.  Join us to learn how this initiative is helping IEEE reclaim its relevance to industry and expanding its reach to a broader community of practicing engineers.

IMPORTANT NOTES AND REMINDERS:

  1. This is a new and piloted program.
  2. At the end of the session, we would like interested members to provide feedback on both the pilot system and its AI-generated and assisted content!  For example, please visit the sampled content at the IEEE Pikes Peak Section (PPS) Website.  Please note that these samples are preliminary where in its current state can take a YouTube URL and transform it into a web-based one-pager.
  3.  Although the PPS URL in item 2 has a STEAM/STEM focus, the PRIMARY goal and objective is to target the IEEE content to working engineers at companies and governmental agencies.
  4. In item 3, the IEEE content can be those articles found in the subscription of IEEE Xplore, white papers, illustrative videos and other original content to design and development.
  5. As the ICP matures for industry there is a possibility that the platform or its derivative can be expanded for STEAM/STEM instruction:  check out  the video on the home page or the IEEE Pikes Peak Section Website at: https://r5.ieee.org/pikespeak or go directly to the YouTube at:  Igniting a New Era of STEAM Education: Why You Must Register for IEEE’s ICP Webinar
  6. Examples of STEAM/STEM instruction can be found here:  escroll and see examples by clicking on link below a STEAM/STEM video labeled as Industry Content Platform
