Introduction:
As part of our commitment to advancing knowledge in Quantum Computing, the IEEE Computer Society at GJU is hosting a workshop titled:
“Advancing Quantum Computing: Bridging Theory and Practice in the Quantum Era.”
The session will offer both theoretical insights and hands-on practice, led by Chair Qasem Al-Hroub.
Workshop Schedule:
The workshop will be structured into two parts:
4:00 PM – 5:00 PM | Part 1: Theoretical Lecture
- Basics of quantum mechanics in computing
- Key concepts: Qubits, superposition, entanglement, quantum gates
- Overview of quantum computing hardware (superconducting qubits, trapped ions)
- Introduction to Shor’s and Grover’s algorithms
- Economic and industrial impact of quantum computing
5:00 PM – 5:30 PM | Coffee Break
5:30 PM – 6:15 PM | Part 1: Continued
- Further exploration of quantum computing concepts
- Challenges in scalability and commercialization
6:15 PM – 6:30 PM | Coffee Break
6:30 PM – 7:30 PM | Part 2: Practical Session
- Hands-on Qiskit programming
- Writing and running quantum circuits on IBM Quantum tools
- Practical examples: Quantum teleportation, error correction, basic quantum algorithms
- Bridging theory and real-world applications
Venue and Setup:
The event will take place at Uruk Study House and Cafe, Amman, in a collaborative environment for learning and networking.
Goals and Objectives:
- Introduce fundamental quantum computing principles
- Provide hands-on experience with Qiskit and IBM Quantum
- Discuss the future of quantum computing and its impact on industries
Future Steps:
- Confirm logistics (venue setup, equipment)
- Promote the event on social media
- Prepare slides and Qiskit materials for the session
Conclusion:
This workshop is a great opportunity to explore cutting-edge quantum technologies through both theory and practice. We look forward to engaging the community in this exciting field.
