Impulse radio ultra-wideband (IR UWB) technology provides many unique features that are complementary to conventional wireless communication such as indoor navigation, precision ranging, radar capability, ultra-high data rate, secure data transaction, bandwidth and energy efficiency. UWB technology is still relatively new, but it has the potential to revolutionize a range of industries, including mobile, automotive, healthcare, smart homes and IOTs. However, those unique features always come with many design tradeoffs in system complexity, effective communication distance, energy efficiency and solution robustness. In this seminar, we will introduce the applications in latest UWB standard, and the circuit design tradeoffs in UWB SoC system and circuit design.
