What:

STEM is a buzz word that everyone is talking about these days. We take that acronym and bring it to life! Each year we host our Girls Engineer It Day event designed to teach that Science, Technology, Engineering and Math isn’t as difficult as students might think.

IEEE Sponsored Activity: LED Flashlight

Students learn about IEEE, engineering disciplines, and circuit basics. A presentation and discussion is followed by understanding how to solder thru-hole parts including practice lessons.

Instruction is followed by a hands-on activity making an LED flashlight. This activity includes soldering in LEDs and assembling their flashlight kit. The student then gets to keep their working LED flashlight which has been engraved with the IEEE Logo. 100% of the students successfully soldered and assembled their working flashlight!
