– Session 1 started at 9:00 am in a regular classroom with 17 students and 1 STEM teacher who (interested in STEM/Computing) signed up
– Session 2 started at 9:40 am in the same classroom with 11 students and 1 STEM teacher who (interested in STEM/Computing) signed up
– I completed my participation at around 10:15 am
– each session is about 30 minutes long; during each session, I
– introduced myself as a Georgia Southern IT faculty member with CS backgrounds and experiences and IEEE Senior Member and Savannah Section Officer
– introduced the similarities and differences among IT, CS, and ECE
– introduced IT and overall computing programs, specializations and main courses offered by Georgia Southern
– introduced the trends in computing, such as AI/ML/Data Science/Robotics
– answered students’ and teacher’s questions, including but not limited to what’s a typical day as a STEM college student, what is the average/typical starting salary of a computing graduate, etc.
– passed out program flyers, NSF ELITE Scholarship Grant flyer (with application link), my business cards and freebies, such as pens with IT@GSU logos
