Sensor – Driven Monitoring and Reliability in Modern Data Centres 150 150 ieeeeduweek

Pre-Visit Webinar (One Week before the Visit)
To maximize the learning experience, IEEE Sensors Council MMU will organize a pre-visit
technical webinar one week before the industrial visit. The webinar will prepare participants by
introducing key concepts related to data centre infrastructure and sensor-based monitoring
systems.

Proposed Webinar Theme
“Sensor-Driven Monitoring and Reliability in Modern Data Centres”

Webinar Objectives
• Introduce participants to data centre architecture (power, cooling, network layers)
• Explain environmental monitoring using temperature, humidity, airflow, and leak detection
sensors
• Discuss redundancy concepts (N+1, 2N, Tier classifications)
• Explain DCIM (Data Centre Infrastructure Management) systems
• Highlight roles of sensors in predictive maintenance and uptime assurance
• Prepare students with technical questions for the industrial visit

Expected Webinar Outcomes
Participants will:
• Understand what to observe during the visit
• Be familiar with data centre terminology
• Appreciate the role of sensors in mission-critical facilities
• Engage more effectively with the ADC technical team
