The IEEE WIE Acropolis Team will conduct a hands-on STEM workshop for girls from selected schools, introducing them to the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence through chatbot design.
The workshop will focus on designing a simple rule-based chatbot for real-world use cases in the K–12 education domain. Participants will learn how to create structured input-response mappings, where specific user inputs trigger predefined responses. Using simple flowcharts and decision trees, students will visually represent the logic and decision-making process of their chatbot.
The activity will introduce students to basic concepts related to Natural Language Processing (NLP), human-computer interaction, decision-making logic, flow control, and prompt engineering. Participants will implement their chatbot logic using basic digital tools or paper-based simulations and test it with different inputs to observe the resulting responses.
Through this hands-on approach, the workshop aims to strengthen students’ logical thinking, problem-solving abilities, creativity, and understanding of AI-based technologies. The activity will also encourage girls to explore STEM and AI while building confidence and curiosity toward technology design and innovation.
