From August 12th – 15th 2024, Fraunhofer FKIE will host the 1st Sensor Data and Information Fusion Summer School! In courses and discussions with specialists from the Fraunhofer FKIE, participants will learn from the basic of sensor data and information fusion to cutting-edge technologies from our research groups. The event is open to students, postgraduates and young professionals from academia and industry. Of course, besides intensive learning, the summer school participants will have enough opportunities to connect and enjoy the beautiful area around Bonn and the Siebengebirge in Germany’s Middle Rhine region.
Topics include Probability Theory, Parameter and State Estimation, Convex and Stochastic Optimization, Distributed Fusion, Fusion on Discrete Grids, Particle Filters, Tracking, Passive Target Localization, Imaging Sensors and Radio Nuclear Sensors.
The summer school will take place at the scientific conference centre “Physikzentrum Bad Honnef” at the foot of the scenic “Siebengebirge” hill range next to the river Rhine, southeast of the city of Bonn. The forested hills are of ancient volcanic origin and offer fantastic views to hikers to the Rhine valley with its medieval castles. Bad Honnef is also known for its vineyards and was home to the Konrad Adenauer, the first chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany.
Bonn, around 14 km northwest of Bad Honnef, is an international and student city with a population over 300.000. The city is a university city home to the University of Bonn, was the birthplace of Ludwig van Beethoven and was the capital of West Germany from 1949 to 1990. Today, besides hosting a substantial presence of the German federal government, Bonn is also the seat of numerous United Nations institutions.
