“Inspire: STEM Project Expo 2025” is an educational showcase designed to engage and motivate students in Grades 6–12 to apply scientific and engineering principles to real-world challenges through a structured, team-based research and presentation format. Participants will work in teams of two to four members under the guidance of a faculty or parental mentor. Over the course of several weeks preceding the Expo, each team will:
Identify a genuine problem or opportunity within one of the nine thematic areas listed below.
Conduct a literature review or preliminary feasibility study (up to five pages), including safety and ethical considerations.
Design and build a prototype, develop data-driven models or prepare detailed simulations as appropriate.
Prepare a concise 200-word abstract summarizing objectives, methodology and expected outcomes.
Produce an A1-sized poster and, where applicable, a working demonstration (physical prototype or digital interface) for on-site evaluation.
Teams must select one of the following thematic areas for project development:
Artificial Intelligence & Robotics
Environmental Science & Sustainability
Physics & Engineering Innovations
Mathematics & Computational Thinking
Biotechnology & Health Technology
Renewable Energy
Data Science & Analytics
Internet of Things
Cybersecurity
A panel of IEEE-affiliated faculty and industry experts will evaluate each submission according to a transparent rubric that considers:
Innovation and Originality (25 points)
Technical Rigor and Methodological Soundness (25 points)
Practical and Societal Impact (20 points)
Clarity and Professionalism of Presentation (15 points)
Teamwork and Collaborative Execution (15 points)
All participants who meet the presentation requirements will receive a certificate of completion endorsed by the IEEE Student Branch and Symbiosis International University Dubai. The top three projects in each category will be distinguished with commemorative plaques, IEEE-branded awards and formal recognition on both IEEE and university communication channels.
Event Details:
Date: Tuesday, 29 April 2025
Time: 09:00 – 13:00 (Registration opens at 08:30)
Venue: Block 14, Knowledge Park, Dubai, United Arab Emirates – Conference Hall A, with on-site audio-visual support and high-speed wireless Internet
Registration is open through 25 April 2025 via the official IEEE–Symbiosis online form (https://lnkd.in/gBkjVnhC). Applicants must designate a Team Leader to submit the project abstract, preliminary materials (PDF), and a statement of mentor endorsement. In addition to the core presentations, the Expo will feature:
Brief keynote remarks by a distinguished IEEE professional, highlighting emerging trends in STEM education
A dedicated poster session allowing peer-to-peer engagement and informal networking
Opportunities for attendees to connect with IEEE volunteers, faculty advisors and industry representatives over light refreshments
This event underscores the IEEE’s commitment to cultivating the next generation of STEM leaders by providing a professional environment in which young innovators can develop technical competence, foster collaborative skills and articulate complex ideas to expert audiences.
