Program – Night of the Stars 2025

November 29 @ 3:00 pm11:30 pm

Within the framework of Noche de las Estrellas 2026, the Women in Engineering (WIE) – IEEE UADY chapter joins the celebration with activities designed to bring science and technology closer to the general public, fostering curiosity, creativity, and participation among children, youth, and adults.
Through talks, workshops, and interactive activities, we aim to show how science is part of our daily lives and how scientific thinking allows us to understand, imagine, and transform our surroundings.

Talks

Programming the Present, Building the Future: The Science of Change in Our Society
Speaker: Aileen Monserrat García Cano

Summary: Programming is present in phones, satellites, laboratories, and video games. This talk will show how the language of programming drives scientific research and technological development. Through practical examples, it will demonstrate that programming is not exclusive to experts, but an accessible tool to imagine, create, and transform our world.
Required space: Area with projector and sound equipment.

The Power of Quantum Chemistry at Your Fingertips
Speaker: Mizar Jocelin Gamboa Pino

Summary: This talk will present how the principles of quantum chemistry indirectly impact our daily lives. Concrete applications of this science in modern technologies will be explored, bringing complex concepts closer to the audience in a clear and understandable way.
Required space: Area with projector and sound equipment.

Workshops

Quantum Tales Under the Stars
Speakers:
• Maria Livier Homa Manzano
• Gabriela Yasmin Vidales Ayala
• Diana Karina Antonio Herrera
• Alison Guadalupe Chuc Perez

Summary: Reading of stories inspired by science and the quantum world, set under a star projector. An activity designed to stimulate children’s imagination by linking storytelling with scientific concepts in a playful and accessible way.
Required space: Dark area (small tent) with a nearby power outlet for equipment.
Workshop capacity: Limited to the number of attendees throughout the event.
Estimated duration: 2 hours.

Magical Science: Experiments That Amaze
Speakers:
• Julisa Lourdes Prieto Díaz
• Odette Scarlett Pavón Durán

Summary: A “scientific magic” show with visual and dynamic experiments that astonish the audience while revealing natural phenomena. The workshop seeks to spark interest in science by showing how what seems magical can also be explained through knowledge and curiosity.
Required space: Area with lighting, table, and nearby power connections (projector if possible).
Activity capacity: Limited to the number of spectators that can gather near the area (held once).
Estimated duration: Up to 1 hour (adjustable depending on available space).

The Language of the Stars
Speaker:
• Karol Jazabel Villalba Noh

Summary: This workshop explores how the light emitted by stars contains quantum information that scientists use to understand the universe. Participants will learn interactively how light and energy are quantized through the construction of a homemade spectroscope.
Required space: Area with partial lighting, table, and nearby power connections.
Estimated duration: 1 hour.
